This is the first time I’m gardening and I’m learning as I go. I just planted shrubs (Barberry and Azalea mostly so far) and I would really like to get it done properly once so I dont have to repair any mistakes after. I hate weeds by the way!

Getting Schooled at the Boise High Teaching Farm
At the Downtown Teaching Farm, lime, kelly and olive green colors are sprouting from raised beds and mostly even rows of produce that run the length of the farm, which Ali Ward affectionately but tiredly calls “humongous.” by Amy Atkins Near the oldest high school and one of the most majestic churches in Boise sat a half-block parcel of fallow, weedy land. Situated at the corner of 12th and Fort …

Thinking about getting married in Europe?

We have been planning your run of the mill wedding for a few months now. I have already asked certain friends to be a part of that. However, we are now seriously considering elopement in Amsterdam (in the tulip fields, I am a landscape designer and he spent many years there after grad school). We planned on going there for a honeymoon, but after planning some of this wedding “stuff” we thought, why not get married on the honeymoon, and skip the ceremony and reception and save some money. My only thoughts are, how do I tell my friends? I can invite some, but of course we can’t pay for them to come. My family does not care one way or the other (my mother would rather us go down to the court house and get it over with).

It hit me when Colleen Vanderlinden wrote 10 Things to Do Now for a Better Garden Next Spring on Planet Green. For more information, please visit www.UrbanOrganicGardener.com

Every solar light I have in the front yard keeps getting stolen . I keep the cheap lights out there for that reason , except for one … my house number sign which is a solar light as well . That at least keeps getting returned by the neighbors . Is there a good theft deterrent out there … these are mainly disappearing by drunk teenagers that walk by in the middle of the night . Any good suggestions ???
