Shades of Green – Landscape Design II Par 9 of 11 Date: Saturday, June 21, 2008 Between Bob’s ceiling fans cutting out and my secondary battery popping, this shoot was fraught w/ problems. Fortunately I discovered an outlet in the pavilion which will negate the battery issue and hopefully provide a better, more lit angle of Bob. Nonetheless, Bob presented some great material and this seminar is chock full of handy tips & tricks and the ceiling fans were also a blessing. Dig square holes instead of round? Who knew? Not me. Stay tuned next week for another infotaining seminar from Shades of Green.

I’m growing veggies (primarily lettuce) in containers on my porch. I have noticed that parts of the soil are turning green in color. I wanna know what this is. Is it safe to keep growing the veggies in this soil? Is it safe to eat the veggies that are grown in this soil?
Doing good and getting dirty two of Mike Rowes favorite things. Thats why he joined Cub Cadet on its mission to support military families through GreenCare for Troops. The mission began with a special job to clean up a soldiers property, bringing in dozens of landscaping volunteers and Cub Cadet products from the 4×4 Cub Cadet Volunteer utility vehicle, to the revolutionary new Z Force S, to the subcompact Sc 2450 with backhoe that could get a big job done. The Dirty Jobs production crew spent a day filming volunteers from Cub Cadet, landscaping company Brickman Group, and Mike Rowe cleaning up the property. Boyd Tonkin: Green poetry with avant-gardeners
Sails and seabirds float above a forlorn Channel-side landscape of sea-strand grasses. Alpine flowers sprout in clefts amid jagged honey-coloured rock from which a waterfall tumbles. Pastel plantings flank a sombre funerary monument; above it, petunias and euphorbias explode in deep colours of blood and grief. These are gardens, but also poems. To be exact, they are three of the six “English …
